Mark Ormerod, Chief Executive of the Probation Association, is the latest in a series of interviews about the MoJ’s probation reform programme: Transforming Rehabilitation.
Mark welcomes the fact that TR reaffirms the importance of rehabilitation but is concerned, like many other interviewees in this series, about the pace of change with plans only announced in May 2013 and no attempt to pilot the main structural changes.
He points out the dangers that many skilled professional staff are leaving the probation service and expresses the hope that the new Probation Institute will be a cohesive force to ensure that the same levels of dedication and professionalism are found in future versions of the probation service.

Sorry, MOJ have cheesed off probation staff with how badly they have been treated. This is going to be a massive fail for Mr Grayling.
There is an excellent new book out on officer safety called:
Officer Survival for Probation and Parole Officers by Scott Kirshner.
It is available on Amazon.com and is a great resource for both probation and parole officers. I have read this book and it is excellent. Definitely would be good for members to read.
