The prison population

Although much of the news coming out of the Ministry of Justice about prisons — increases in violence and suicides, falling numbers of staff — is pretty dispiriting to say the least, the MoJ has at least become increasingly transparent about prison life.

As you can see, the prison population increasingly consists of those sentenced to long terms of imprisonment for serious offences.
