Looking for lively debate? Try these blogs:

Alcohol and Drugs
One of the liveliest online communities is that run by the Wired-in Recovery Community - the same organisation that runs the Daily Dose, a round up of all substance misuse news sent to your in-box. The site caters for users and ex-users, family members and practitioners.

Another lively blog is run by Sara McGrail, regularly updated and always with a strong point of view, normally tackling government policy head-on.

Crime
Erwin James, ex-long-term prisoner and Guardian columnist is always interesting to read. His two books recounting personal experiences of life inside are heartily recommended too.

Regeneration
Robert Peston, the BBC economic correspondent, has one of the most widely followed blogs.

Social Work
The most maligned profession in Britain. The social work blog hosted by Community Care writers covers everything from old people to young offenders with a heavy interest in media coverage.
